Imo there are two ways you could try and adapt the Jund spirit to edh: you could go a more controlling route with a commander like ] or ]. The threats in edh tend to be much more synergy focused because closing the game is so much harder. That strategy doesn't really work in edh becauseĪ: 1 for 1 removal is card disadvantage in multiplayerī: the higher life total and having 3 opponents makes it really hard for a single efficient threat to put a relevant clock on the board. The modern Jund deck usually plays a lot of cheap 1 for 1 interaction and tries to close out the game with efficient threats while the opponent stumbles. Note that I am not a control player at heart, so my goal is not to be the fun police of the table either □Įdit: I'm not talking about jund as the colour combination, I'm talking about jund as a play style!! Meaning, what kind of deck / what colour combination is the most suitable in this format to answer opponents, trade off resources in a fair way while generating card advantage? My game plan is thus to disrupt the opponent, generating card advantage and finally win by sticking powerful threats.īut since my experience in EDH is much more limited that most of yours, I'm curious to hear your input on that kind of play style in EDH. When I play modern, I am usually a midrange player that value interactions, and trading off resources in a fair way before finally playing potent threats. I like to play decks that answer situations, rather than creating them. I have been playing Magic for nearly 10 years now, so I know what kind of deck I like to play. Today I have been thinking about building a new deck, but instead of building it with a commander in mind, I would build it based on a specific strategy / philosophy, then pick a commander later on. I'm slowly learning about the specifics of this format and I'm having tons of fun. Hello dear friends, I'm a modern player that started to play EDH this year.
